Professor of Bioengineering and Co-Director of the Institute for Neural Computation at UC San Diego, La Jolla CA.  Research focus on micropower integrated biomedical circuits, neuron-silicon and brain-machine interfaces, neuromorphic engineering, and adaptive intelligent systems.  Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).  Formerly Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, General Chair of the IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems Conference (BioCAS 2011, San Diego), Program Chair of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference (EMBC 2012, San Diego), and Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems.
